We love fun tools to help writers, and one we recently came across is The Storymatic, which announces that there are “six trilli0n stories in one little box”.

The box consists of cards containing character types and prompt ideas for furthering your story. It might even be a fun game to come up with ideas in your writing group, by using the box as the basis for a writing game.

If you are living elsewhere but want to take advantage of the huge US market, you should definitely consider using American spelling and punctuation. Not sure what that should be? Get a US language dictionary (or set your computer to US language) and get the Chicago Manual of Style.

One of my favorite tools for writing is John Truby’s Anatomy of a Story.  It is extraordinarily helpful to any writer in getting the basics of their own story started.
